PortaLite mini
Portable & Wireless fNIRS Device for Infants & Toddlers
Infant and neonatal research in the palm of your hand
- Measures local changes in oxyhemoglobin, deoxyhemoglobin, and total hemoglobin concentration, as well as tissue saturation index (TSI).
- Specifically designed for pediatric studies and neonatal research.
- Truly lightweight, portable, and wireless, weighing only 188 grams, including two mini sensors.
- Real-time online or offline recording with a high sampling rate (up to 100 Hz) and long battery life.
- Integrated event marker button on the device for easy event labeling.
- Can be used with one or two sensors.
- Compatible with the Artinis mobile app for quick and easy NIRS recordings in the field.
High performance and precision in a compact design
Unlimited device range
The offline measurement feature allows data acquisition outside of Bluetooth range. This enables seamless data capture both inside and outside the laboratory, such as in home environments, hospital bedsides, outdoor playgrounds, and much more. Offline acquired data can be directly and easily loaded into our OxySoft software for subsequent analysis.
Intuitive and ergonomic design for infants and toddlers
The PortaLite MKII mini, weighing only 188 g including two mini sensors, ensures uninterrupted exploration for your young subjects. Featuring quick and easy attachment, the sensors offer long-lasting comfort and a smooth experience, enhancing both the participant’s playtime and the researcher’s execution of the experiment.
Dual sensors
The standard PortaLite MKII mini package comes with one control unit and two sensors. Thanks to these two independent connections, the PortaLite MKII mini offers the opportunity to use one or two sensors simultaneously, and can even be combined with adult sensors to cover a broader measurement depth range. This ensures maximum flexibility in your choice of application: both sides of the brain, different muscles, or brain and muscle simultaneously—the measurement possibilities are endless!
Exceptional signal quality
Obtaining high-quality data is crucial for producing reliable scientific results. Thanks to shorter inter-optode distances, the mini sensors manage to bridge the gap between short-separation channels and standard adult sensor channels.
fNIRS Made Simple
The NIRS Technique
Optical oximetry and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) in particular are tools for non-invasively assessing the oxygenation status and hemodynamics of various organs, such as muscle and brain.
They rely mainly on two characteristics of human tissue: firstly, the relative transparency of tissue to light in the NIR range, and secondly, the oxygenation-dependent light absorbance of hemoglobin.
